2 page spread - 1st Draft
We managed to grab the busy man known as Steezy and managed to sit him down and ask a couple of quick Questions.
You have recently released a new album called “The Man in the Suit” and you think it’s your best yet, why is that the case?
Well I started my career at a early age and maybe it was too early, I sometimes look back at my early stuff and think “what was I thinking” I don't really like the work I produced at the starting point but now in this album I'm better than ever!
You have collaborated with T.dot on your new single “I’m An Insomniac” how do you think it went?
Yeah I think it went well and definitely one of my best collaborations with another artist. I’ve known T.dot for a long time, you know, I went to secondary school with him and now I class him as a brother, and a great artist to work with.
After this album would you consider yourself as a key figurehead in the hip hop genre?
Well I am recognised as a more credible artist now and my fan base has grown considerably over the past couple of years and my album has had good reviews which I'm pleased about, but no I wouldn't class myself as key, I'm just doing what I enjoy and will continue to make music for my fans if that's what they want. Sometimes people say “do you need to talk about things in such aggressive ways” and I just want people to know that if they don't like the way I get my point across then I don't need those type of fans, but to all my fans that understand me, then peace!
The Man in the Suit came out on Friday.

Treble Front Cover - Early Plans
This is a early plan for my front cover for my music magazine "Treble". It needs a image added to the front cover. My masthead has been improvised but needs editing as I do not like the white border, it looks boring and I wanted to change it to have a glowing effect around the text. The colours I have use for the font are red, dark blue, yellow, and light blue, but these aren't definately what I will be using. I used these colours because I think that they all stand out against the dark background. When the background at the top and the bottom of the page goes light, the light blue contrasts well with it.

Comparison of two front covers
Comparison of two Front Covers
How do the two magazines attract their target audience?
Grazia is a female fashion magazine so its intended audience will be women who are interested in the latest fashion, it also includes celebrity gossip so for women who are interested in fashion and celebrity lifestyles this would be a must buy, the age range would be a young female probably ranging from 17-18 to about 30 because younger women are naturally more up to date with the latest fashions and the celebrity gossip. There is what looks to be a snap shot of Kate Moss who is a huge fashion icon for women and does make up adverts, so most young women will know who she is and if they see her on the front of the Grazia cover then they will want to read more about her “night of hell” as it says on the front and find out if she’s ok or not. The font for Grazia looks sleek and classy so women will like it because they’ll want to buy the newest classy looking fashions and want to wear them to look good.
NME is a music magazine so it’s only real target audience would be a person, any gender who is interested in music. Naturally younger people would be more inclined to buy this magazine because it’s modern up to date music. The Wombats are the centre of attention on the front cover so if you are interested in their music then you will be more inclined to buy NME. The Wombats also look like they are posing for a photo but are not just posing for a normal photo; they look like they are trying to act more natural than a set up pose in this image. The font of NME is bold and always the same so people will always recognise it when they see it, if they buy it regularly then they will become familiar with the brand identity.
I would of gone on to talk about the contents of the magazine
School Magazine (Preliminary Task) Proposal
My photograph will be of a sixth form male holding up an apprenticeship guide, they will be looking like they are interested in it. He will be wearing casual clothing, look intelligent and up to date with fashion.
The representation is of all the pupils in the secondary school, this will be depicted by captions that could say things like “HOMEWORK CLUB: MONDAY MORNINGS 8.00-9.00. OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS!!” This portrays that all pupils and not just the ones in sixth form will be interested in the magazine. Also it’ll be representing school because it’ll offer free things inside the magazine such as a pencil case.
It will be known by brand identity from the title which will have a academic and smart font, it will have large bold writing in capitals and the title will be “NEW SCHOOL” this will give the readers a modern and up-to-date feel about the magazine because of the “NEW”. It will also appeal to the new children in year 7, it will offer the feeling of a new environment and vibe, now that they are taking a big step up from primary school, they’ll need as much support as possible.
It will have a yellow and white background which represents quiet feminine colours but the entire font will be black and dark blue and they are strong, bold colours so people will be able to tell that it is a uni-sex magazine, there will be a good mixture of colours throughout, which will attract all pupils from the school. The genre is a school magazine which will give explicit detail about what pupils require for the new school year, uniform, lesson equipment etc. Also included is what to do if problems occur, from everything such as dealing with bullies to help getting up in the morning.
My target audience will be aimed at every single pupil in the school so it’ll cover a whole variety of things. It will offer details on what is on after school, clubs in which sporting activities are available and will give days, times and who to see to get additional information. It will also offer older pupils help with their C.V. writing and a list of options of the subjects that we offer, ranging from GCSE choices, A-level choices and a whole section on the apprenticeships we offer. If sixth formers require opportunities for part time work, it will offer a list of jobs and where they are located in the surrounding area.
All of the things just listed will hopefully lure pupils in to get this magazine because it looks attractive and offers a massive variety of things for every single pupil experiencing the school life and will be the "go to" guide for everything to do with school.
Music Magazines: Front Covers and Conventions
Both of these magazine front covers are from the well known Hip Hop magazine "VIBE" they both include Eminem because I think he is a good rapper and his stories and appearance is important for my magazine and the genre it follows, which generally is a urbanised scene and the artists included have normally gone through traumatic periods in their lives. The image to the left was originally what I had in mind for my magazine, it had a good picture that interests the reader, an interesting story included in the magazine to the left of the image which originally was what I thought my 2 page spread could be based on but I didn't feel I could expand on the story. Therefore I decided to base my magazine on the image to the right as the picture is much more effective and "hooks" the reader in to purchasing it, I will have a similar shot but perhaps more from a upright angle instead of crouching down and also a closer up shot of my artists faces. Also the story to the left of the image is what I will base my magazine on and I will expand on "a conversation between brothers". Showing more conventions of music magazines and how they lure their intended audience in. I will do this by not just talking about how my artist feels among his peers but how he feels about his position in the music industry as a whole. My masthead will be one that stands out like the ones above and will be a recognised brand for readers so they can find it easily, although it may vary in colour from month to month to add variety and possible new readers. Also my background will be a dark background and will have light writing against it so that it stands out on the page and gives it a inviting look for the target audience.

Music Magazine Questionnaire Analysis
I asked people in a random order to fill out my magazine questionnaire; I asked a total of 15 people, 11 males and 4 females, the ages ranged from 16-30. Of the males there was a wide variety of ages and they mostly buy a magazine every week, also I asked a variety of ages for women and they mostly buy there magazines monthly. From the males I asked, most of them buy Dubstep music magazines and a larger quantity read Hip Hop magazines too, of the women most of them buy Indie music magazines. Also most males are more encouraged to purchase a magazine if it is cheap or includes free offers with it, and most females were encouraged to buy a magazine because of the stories included in it. Also males are more likely to buy a magazine from either newsagents or from a supermarket instead of online or somewhere else, plus the majority of women purchased their magazines from a supermarket. Men are more likely to purchase a magazine if it has more images than text; females are the opposite and prefer more text than images. Moreover males are more likely to go on foot to get there magazine than by vehicle or getting it delivered, whereas women are more likely to go by vehicle. Most males would be less inclined to buy a magazine that doesn’t have an interesting image on the front cover whereas the majority of women wouldn’t be affected by it. There was a different variety but males would prefer a posed picture on the front than a snatched picture, whereas women would prefer the opposite. When I asked for any additional information, one male said “I love my Hip Hop magazines so I can circle my favourite artists and their new songs to download off iTunes.” Furthermore a female said “I like music magazines as it keeps me in touch with the music scene which helps when I go clubbing.”
